Five Fav Friday

Oh Friday, we love you so.
Though i pretend that the days just float along blissfully with little to no meaning attached to them,
truthfully the days of the week still do matter, and friday is still an undeniably favorite.
I mean, who doesn't like the weekend?  Although sleeping in on Saturdays (or any day. ever.) no longer happens,
there's still pancakes and bacon, extra cups of coffee, and that guilty pleasure of staying in pjs just a little bit later.

So anywhos, here's a little throw back for you guys: Five Favs for Friday!

1. Spring? Is Here?
The weather has been unbelievable, almost eerily so, and it's like winter didn't even happen.
Great for long walks, splashing in mud puddles, and hanging out on the deck in T-shirts.
Yup, T-shirts.  In February.  In Canada.

2.  Having the Little sleep with us sometimes.  I know it's bad but I just can't help it, makes me all melty.

3.  My new sewing machine (thank you Dr. Nails!).
I might not be good at threading or stitching straight lines, and my lead foot sometimes get the damn thing going too fast,
but I have amazing visuals of all the cool things I'm going to sew. Who care if it's all in my head?!

4.  The home-made naan bread i made, and will be making again, and again, and again.

5.  All of the projects i'm working on!
I am participating in a craft fair at the end of March, hosted by some amazing crafty girls I know : )
It's going to be at Paul's Hall on the Peggy's Cove Road, so if you live nearby get ready, it's gonna be amazing!
I'm excited to share a few neat projects with you guys here too!

Have a wonderful weekend!!!!

Five For Friday

Fridays are always the best.
And this week is even better, as Dr. Nails is hanging home today.
It's super dark and stormy, which in my opinion equals cosy.
I love cosy indoor days, and am one of those insane people who look forward to winter.
( really i think it's just an excuse to be lazy, i'm okay with that too )

Anyways, I hope these photos brighten your day, be it lazy and rainy or not...

Have a Happy Friday!

It's been a while since i've done this, i think i might bring it back.
It's like my own little happiness project, and we all need more happiness in our lives!

So without further ado...

Five For Friday

Where the hell did that week go?
It still amazes me that i can spend a week doing nothing but the basics like
caring for the little, grocery shopping, house work, etc., and have it go by so incredibly fast...
Now that summer's here and he's getting bigger we are able to do more too,
which makes the days fly by.

This weekend....
we're going on a road trip with nanny b and aunty s,
grilling steaks and eating salads, and maybe drinking beer,
blowing bubbles, treasure hunting (aka yard sailing), and just soaking up the sun.
I saw a wikid looking recipe for frozen mocha popsicles too....
hmmm, those might have to happen.

Aannddd... here's the stuff i'm crazy for this week:
(besides chocolate of course, which is an all the time affair)

- Summertime!

- A brand spanking new jar of peanut butter.
Now, i know i've said this before, but it's one of those things that every time it happens
my heart does a little extra pitter patter.  Sad but true

- Weekly playgroup : )

- Rick Astley.
'cause he's never gunna give me up, let me down, run around, desert me, make me cry
say goodbye, tell a lie or hurt me.

- The new cuddly Jake.  He actually sits still for entire minutes at a time,
and lets me love him for all of those extra seconds

And then there's this coffee cup gone wild,
this sign that says it all,
and this ridiculously hilarious onsie too.

Have an ah-may-zing weekend!!!!!

Five For Friday

A few months ago I did a Friday post about my hometown and Province, Calgary, Alberta.
While it is definitely a place i miss and will always love,
it isn't really my home anymore.

So I though i'd share my favorite things I love about my NEW home,
Nova Scotia:

Quaint little fishing villages;  i just love the colors of the buildings and the windswept feel.

(this is Peggy's Cove, without the lighthouse)

The wildlife.  Yeah yeah, there's loads of wildlife in Alberta too.
Here it just happens to be in my backyard.
Think eagles, seals, whales, porcupines, and of course, our dear 'deer' friends.
I always joke with Dr. Nails that it's like living in a National Geographic magazine, tough huh.

The most amazing sunsets i have ever seen, right on my doorstep.

The ocean.
While it's no Rocky Mountain, i suppose it's an adequate substitute ; )
It's always changing, always on the move, and full of crazy animals? fish? creatures.

These guys.
All of whom are true Nova Scotians,
and they're all the reasons i need to call this windblown province my home.

Have a beautiful weekend!!

Favorite Friday

Oh Hannada?

It's the Hannah Dog's birthday!
She's the big six this year, which is 42 in doggie years.
( i sadly report that i had to use a calculator for that, oh wow )

Bawhahah! she kills me...

But it's also Canada Day, the sun is shining, Dr. Nails is home, the baby's smiling.
Life's good and sweet like strawberries and cream.
So today I found you some awesome things to do on Canada Day,
and i'm happy to inform you that none of them have anything to do with the Royal Family, ugh...

Take a minute and go HERE to read some of the funniest (and truest) Canadianisms:

or maple anything for that matter, that stuff is the bomb!!
Put it on everything and i guarantee you will be a happier person for it...

Make an easy banner from cardstock and newspaper:

How about some Strawberry Ninjas? They're red and white...

Put candles in jars: so easy, so pretty. These will be at my party for sure:

Watch fireworks

Make Nanaimo Bars (super Canadian, super yum):

Laugh your ass off:

Go to the beach:

Make super easy red and white desserts:

And above all don't loose your sense of humour!

Canada Rocks so hard : )
Happy Long Weekend!

Five For Friday

Cue Julie Andrews,
I've had that 'favorite things' song in my head all flipping day...

Well, around here you might not find raindrops, roses, or kittens,
but pretty much at any given moment you will find the Little in various stages of play.
"Any given moment?" you might question my phrasing, but i would not lie to you dear friends.
This kid rarely. ever. stops.
And somedays (like today) naptime cannot come soon enough.
But at last, it is finally here.
oh happy times....

So without further ado: These are just a few of the Little bit's favorite things:

Bathtime is total happytime

Tuck the Truck is his fav peek-abo friend

playing? eating? you decide.  whatever it is he really likes it.

'Moosh' his snuggy monkey banket

And his absolute fav - hanging out with his mom

Oh the fun we have!

And just 'cause it's friday, my favorite shot of the sunset over the bay last night:

Happy Friday!

Five For Friday

Blogger seems to have crapped the bed earlier today,
and my last post about the mouse-hole seems to have been eaten by the blogger monster,
never to be seen again? ( insert words reserved for computer glitches HERE )
I'll try to re-post it later today, but it may never be the same...

In the mean time, today's post has been trapped inside my mind all day,
which i assure you is a very strange place to be, so here it is, finally.

Inspired by my hometown and home province of Calgary, Alberta;
My Five Favourites this Friday....

Stuff I Love (and miss) about Alberta!

Mountains Mountains everywhere!  Oh how i miss the Rockies...

....and snowboarding and definitely my favorite - apres ski!
( a beavertail and a bottle of beer please )

It's cool to wear cowboy hats.
Well in my head it's ALWAYS cool to wear a cowboy hat,
but out west you actually see other people besides me wearing them.  and boots too.
and those really big belt buckles.  those really rock.

The Calgary Stampede.
Yes, it definitely is a requirement to wear a cowboy hat at the Stampede.
The entire city completely loses it's mind for 10 days straight.
What more of an excuse do you need?

The endless prairies and monstrous skies that are so easy to get lost in.
I love how they stretch on forever and make me feel small.

This is my town, my province.

 It's beautiful and unique
And it will always be home to me..... i can't wait to visit!
