Artsy is NOT Fartsy v11

Bursting!

So I mentioned that I had a few projects on the go.
Well, it's one thing having them on the go, but finishing them is an entirely different thing.
That's where this craft fair i am participating in gets scary!  Eeek!
I should really stop talking to you guys and get to work : )

Anyways, I actually accomplished something for a change, and finished a project!
Inspired (as usual) by Pinterest where i found this super fun twig wreath, I set myself to work.

All i did was cut out a circle of cardboard, wrapped it in twine and glue gunned some sticks i found in our yard.
It was so ridiculously easy, and for one who is used to 'easy' projects taking weeks to finish,
this totally blew my mind.  I did it during nap time.  I know right?  Un-bee-leev-able : )

Originally it was destined for my front door, which hasn't been itself since i took down the Christmas decorations.
But when it was done it was way too wide, and definately too fragile for our scathing winter winds.
And besides, i had just the spot that has been crying out for some lovin':

I guess I'll just have to make another (stronger) one for my lonely front door : )

Happy March!!!

Artsy is NOT Fartsy v10

This past Christmas was a Christmas of home-made gifts,
both to save money and because i think anything homemade is better than what you'll find in a store.
And um, 'cause i like to make stuff...

Using a few things i already had in my craft hoard supply,
I made this neat shadowbox for my brother and his girlfriend out west:

Since they don't have things like oceans and sea glass and whales and lighthouses on the prairies,
i thought i would send a little east coast their way...

I simply painted a plain old shadow box that i got at the dollar store white,
added a pretty blue paper background, and glued on some sea glass / sea porcelain -
although i did have to paint that one piece red.

I think i might just have to make one for myself : )

Color My World

The miracle of paint blows my mind, every time.
And every time I paint I wonder why I didn't do it sooner, like seriously.
Note: I use the term 'i' loosely.  Let's just say my on-site-supervisory skills are still sharp.

Because that red was like, so two years ago.
(actually, I painted it that color two years ago before I even lived here.
The entire house was BEIGE before, so any color was an improvement in my books,
but hey, that's just me...)

So, with a shake of my magic wand and Dr. Nails' super-duper painting skills, viola!

And now I have a brand new (to-me) kitchen.
New-to-me applies to kitchens as well as cars, right?  Yes, i think so.
Now if it would only stay that clean, cause I'm telling you it doesn't look like the picture right now...

Artsy is NOT Fartsy v1

This instalment of art on our walls comes to us courtesy of Dr. Nails himself.
Well, he was the one who performed the actual construction,
whilst I stuck to my old position of on-site supervisor.
What can I say, it's a good job...

I like to think the idea came from somewhere within the vast genius that is my head,
but I'm pretty sure it was undoubtably via some design show or another on HGTV
( of which, by the way, I am thoroughly addicted to.)
So thanks go out to whichever good looking designer graced my living room that day
and planted the seed for this in my head.

It was really quite simple:
I kindly begged asked the lovely and talented Dr. Nails to build frames out of scrap wood he had,
and bam!  Just moments later he arose from Manland bearing three!
Once again his talent takes my breath away.

A few rounds of the staple gun on the fabric I had cut out to size
and voila!  Cheap and cheerful it is!

I give you full permission to steal this idea too : )

So many choices, so little time

Progress!

Progress means that the gyp rock is up and mudding is happening!
Progress means that there is much dust due to the sanding of said mud!
Progress means we are closer to moving on up!
These are all such good things, yes?

So I wonder, when did Progress become such a dirty word?
I think it was when Dr. Nails said that fateful word:

Choose.

I believe it is a word that most women fear, and yes, I did just say fear.
It's an inherent thing, this fear, and it runs deep within my soul.

Carpet samples cause this fear to bubble up.

As do paint chips.
Particularly that hideous thing they call a color wheel.
Who invented that thing?!
They should rename it the wheel of terror.

And then there's fabric swatches.
Although I kind of like the fabric store, so full of patterns and textures,
so many different things to choose from.
Wait, did I just say I like that?
These hormones are getting out of control...

Have I mentioned how much I loathe that damn word?
