Sometimes it makes me wonder

What is going on around here?
Dr. Nails must not have read my previous post why daddy, why.
If he had I'm sure he would have remembered that our
precious children are NOT toys.
However, I turn my back for just one minute...

I suppose it could be worse,
I could have posted the photo of Jake holding the beer can.
Then again,

 it's not like Dr. Nails actually let him drink it :}

Afternoons With Jake

These days lately go by so fast,
often a blur of diaper changes, feedings, and tummy time,
rattles and books and bath time.

Some of these days are long, no doubt,
and often filled with unpleasant moments.
Moments of uncertainty, self-doubt, and even sheer confusion.
Moments of exhaustion, frustration and sometimes even moments of despair.
Moments when I wonder if I can really do this.

But then another moment will occur.
And more often than not it will be a magical one.

Moments when Dr. Nails is playing with him,
and I'll see that little shine he gets in his eyes when he looks into that sweet baby face.
The moment the Hannah Dog lays a great big slurp on a chubby cheek.
Moments of snuggles and cuddles, gurgles and goos.
And how from the moment he wakes up every day he has a smile at the ready.

And in these moments I GET IT.
What it is to be a mother;
how I will spend the rest of my life exhausted, confused and terribly concerned,
and totally, completely, in love.
Truly. Madly. Deeply.

Shake it up

I have decided to mix things up around here.
Mind you, due to my wonderful and amazing kid,
I am making this decision at a strange and ungodly hour.
Perhaps it is a rash one.
Sometimes it's hard to think straight when it's still dark outside.

I hope you like the changes to the blog.
Change is good.

But this, this is better:

 Dr. Nails. In love.
As good as it gets, I'd say.

Ten things I love about motherhood.

And one thing I hate.

The things that I love:
( it was really hard to whittle it down to just 10 )

1.  Smiles.
The sheer joy.
He takes my breath away every time.

2.  Noises.
The oohs, the aahs, the hees, the haas.
The cries and screams when a wet diaper occurs.
Even those crazy noises that sound like a starved cat trapped in a dryer.
Not that I know what that sounds like,
but at 5 o'clock in the morning weird ideas just pop into my head.
I even like those sounds.

3.  Smells.
Baby oil.  Baby shampoo.  Babyness.
It's inexplicably intoxicating.

4.  Wiggles.

5.  Head.
6.  And Shoulders.
7.  Knees.

8.  And Toes.

( come on, both of my kids count! )

9.   Laundry.
Yes, you read that right.
Remember many months ago when I had such fun folding
 little t-shirts and socks?
Still love it.
Call me insane.
I don't care.

10.  Being amazed everyday.
Despite the lack of sleep, the bags under my eyes,
being barfed on, pooped on, slobbered on,
doggie walkies in this icy winter cold,
messy hair and a closet full of clothes that no longer fit,
I am AMAZED.
And in love.

However,
the one thing I hate:
Tub Shits.

Bet you were expecting a different photo there : }

 My awesome, wonderful, beautiful kids,
who leave me speechless and amazed on a daily basis.
