The Times They Are A-Changing...

I remember a time in my life when the time change ( in the fall anyways )
was always a cause for great celebration.
A whole extra hour of sleep, going to work an hour later,
certain (ahem) establishments i frequented would be open later....
The benefits to 'fall back' were immense, I mean what's not to love?!

Note, however, the use of past tense...
What i discovered this year is that although the clock on the wall might change,
the clock in our darling babe's heads stays exactly the same.
So although the clock on the wall reads 5am,
the clock in the little babe's brain says "it's time to wake up."

And although waking up to his tousled hair and those flushed little cheeks is a wonderful way to start the day,
it is a bittersweet realization that there is no longer cause for great celebration,
only a cause for greater amounts of caffeine ; )

Falling for Friday

After seeing pictures of SNOW on the news,
I decided to embrace the beauty of fall before it's gone for another year.
So I baked pumpkin muffins and cookies,
and pushed thoughts of Christmas (gasp) out of my head,
at least for a few more days...

Happy Friday!

Breathing Space

I have been playing catch-up all week, and i wonder in awe how working moms do it.
The other day I asked a friend of mine who just recently went back to work
how she manages to get everything done.
Her answer was simply "I don't"

So on days i'm overwhelmed by piles of laundry and floors that crunch,
i try to take a few minutes to do something with Jake and gain some perspective.
It's easy to see that this little life ain't so bad....

This is Halloween...

I feel as though making my first halloween costume was a
pretty big deal on the mommy scale.
And how fun is this?!?!?!

We had so much fun ( Dr. Nails and I did that is,
the Little had no idea what was going on, or why he couldn't sit down properly )
It's a little bittersweet though, as all firsts are.
There will never be another first halloween or costume....

PS - I have a confession to make though,
I was inspired by this and can't take all the credit : )
