Fifteen
Fifteen Months!
There once was a time when you were so small and fragile.
I see tiny babies now and wonder at their perfect smallness, tiny toes and noses.
I am in awe of their stillness and silence; their little wiggles. their quietude. their serenity.
For you are no longer any of those things.
You are noise and motion. You are smash and bang, run and climb.
You are big and tall and all boy. Rough and tumble.
You know baa for sheep and say rar-rar for doggies, and hhhhaaaaa when things are hot.
Other than that you are a man of few words, too busy finding things to get into!
Even "Hannah" has been dropped from the vocab, which is weird because you used to say her name 100 times a day. Literally. There is plenty of
You are into everything you should not be into, which isn't always so funny, but that's okay too.
I sometimes think we might lose it, like when you start hauling on our (massive and very expensive) tv,
or when you pull dirt out of the plant for the fifth time that day.
But it's hard to be mad when you look at me with that cute little scrunched up face you make,
or when that bottom lip starts to poke out and those baby blues start to well up.
The expressions on your little face, the earthquaking sounds that emit from your tiny body, the swiftness that you get into things, the giggles and even the odd squeal that i've heard recently, it's all hilarious.
And I wouldn't change any of it for the world.

Five Fav Friday
Oh Friday, we love you so.
Though i pretend that the days just float along blissfully with little to no meaning attached to them,
truthfully the days of the week still do matter, and friday is still an undeniably favorite.
I mean, who doesn't like the weekend? Although sleeping in on Saturdays (or any day. ever.) no longer happens,
there's still pancakes and bacon, extra cups of coffee, and that guilty pleasure of staying in pjs just a little bit later.
So anywhos, here's a little throw back for you guys: Five Favs for Friday!
1. Spring? Is Here?
The weather has been unbelievable, almost eerily so, and it's like winter didn't even happen.
Great for long walks, splashing in mud puddles, and hanging out on the deck in T-shirts.
Yup, T-shirts. In February. In Canada.
2. Having the Little sleep with us sometimes. I know it's bad but I just can't help it, makes me all melty.
3. My new sewing machine (thank you Dr. Nails!).
I might not be good at threading or stitching straight lines, and my lead foot sometimes get the damn thing going too fast,
but I have amazing visuals of all the cool things I'm going to sew. Who care if it's all in my head?!
5. All of the projects i'm working on!
I am participating in a craft fair at the end of March, hosted by some amazing crafty girls I know : )
It's going to be at Paul's Hall on the Peggy's Cove Road, so if you live nearby get ready, it's gonna be amazing!
I'm excited to share a few neat projects with you guys here too!
Have a wonderful weekend!!!!

My Island in the Sun
Remember how our house used to be itty-bitty?
Well, while the rest of the house has expanded exponentially, the kitchen has remained the same.
Small that is. Tiny. Teeny-weeny.
See that little spot next to the microwave in the corner? That's all the counter space i had.
That's ALL. Until our favorite carpenter came to the rescue.
(ahem, when he finally got fed up with trying to make lunch while i was trying to make lunch too ; )
Before:
After:
He spent a sunday whipping this island up for us. Yup, just a day. My oh my.
Eventually the back part will be very useful for storage.
Eventually the back part will be very useful for storage.
Right now the bins are full of someone's toys, someone who likes to be underfoot play with them while I'm trying to cook supper, but at least I know where everyone is : )
In my head i have dubbed it the command center, or maybe headquarters, i guess i haven't decided.
But i can see the rest of the house and keep a watchful eye on those who need to be watched.
(um, everyone?) The best part?
it's on wheels, so whenever the mood to dance strikes, it's no problem : )

Trendy Tuesday v.17
So, I know i promised you Trendy Tuesday 2 weeks ago.
Truth is - i totally flipping forgot it was Tuesday. Yup, that's all i've got. I forgot. I almost forgot again today.
See, when you stay at home, things like days of the week just aren't all that important.
And I'm okay with that. I have only you to impress, and i just know that you are always super dazzled
when you visit us here, regardless.
Alright. Prepare yourselves to be impressed....
I give you the Hoodie Edition, Part 2:
Camo Hoodie - George
Football Hoodie - Carters
Dino Hoodie - George
Amazed? Thought so. I am amazed that he has his thumb in his mouth in every. single. shot.
Good thing he's so darn cute : )
Adios!

Photo of the Week
Week #52
That's an entire year's worth!
I chose this photo because he looks like more of a baby and less like the little boy that he now is,
they truly do grow up so fast! What an amazing thing to look through these weekly photos,
and to watch this little person happen right before our very eyes.
Oh how i LOVE having all of these photos!
My only regret is that i didn't start directly after he was born, so there's a few weeks missing.
I hope you guys have enjoyed this project as much as i did, can't wait to start all over again next week!
( And Oh how i LOVE this little boy : )
You can see the whole series HERE.

Pink, anyone?
So Valentine's Day!
I thought about baking heart shaped cookies, but then realized that i would be the one to eat them. all.
I then thought about making a heart garland, but someone small demanded my attention.
So i took a picture instead, with a picture of my loves in the background.
Hope you're having a Sweet Day!!!!!
PS - I promise that Trendy Tuesday will return next week : )

It's Friday! Here's a Photo.
It has been a long week around here, the Little is SO sick...
flushed little cheeks and a little nose that just goes run run run : (
Let's just say we're not so picture perfect around here at the moment!
This, however, totally is:
Happy Friday my friends!!!

All You Need Is A Lazy Boy
I have a dog who's hanging to go for a walk, an itty bitty nose that won't stop running,
and a cough that won't quit. But dammit, I've got this:
What on earth else do i need?

Mexico Pt.2 Tullum Ruins
Just a few more from our trip to Mexico! We hired a van one day to take us to the ruins at Tullum.
Perched atop the cliffs overlooking the turquoise waters of the Carribean,
and with a perfect little beach, it's location was nothing short of spectacular!!!!

Just by a Hair
I don't know if you guys have noticed or not, but someone's hair has been getting out of control.
Like, to the point where people were calling him a girl : (
Now when i see a baby dressed in camo cargo pants, a black t-shirt and blue sneakers,
the last thing i think is feminine, but hey, that's just me : )
Quite a little mop top huh? Though truthfully i kinda liked it all long and shaggy.
( i seem to have a strange weakness for shaggy haired men )
Anyways, i couldn't quite bear the thought of him carrying around something like being called a girl for the rest of his life,
so i figured it was time to finally do something about it.
so i figured it was time to finally do something about it.
He didn't sit still for too long, and our lovely hairdresser Valerie had to chase him around her
studio with her scissors to get it even, but i think it looks pretty sharp!
The sad thing is that it makes him look less like a baby and more like a little boy,
and you guys know how much i hate the fact that he's growing up...
i don't know when i'll ever cut it again, if it means he'll look like a little boy a little longer,
instead of a big one : )

Finally Friday!
Okay, so i realize that i haven't done the rest of the mexico pics, the post about the island
(in our kitchen, not a tropical one with palm trees), the basement that's undergoing a major transformation, our major sleep issues, the blog award i was given (thanks Chandra!), the big haircut, the yummy cranberry muffins i made (oops! they're all gone),
our new friends and all the fun we're having, my broken toe, or my photography company logo i've been working on....
But we've been busy! (and tired!) I promise to catch up next week.....
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Carbohydrates? Yes Please
Okay, so I have a little confession to make:
When I was growing up i LOVED Little House On The Prairie;
I always thought Laura Wilders was totally living the dream.
I always thought Laura Wilders was totally living the dream.
Sometimes i believed that i was born in the wrong era, and that i was really meant to churn my own butter
and ride around in the back of a wagon all day with my dog running along side.
and ride around in the back of a wagon all day with my dog running along side.
Really. I wanted to be Laura Ingalls.
Well, except for the bonnet wearing part, hmm, not so much....
So while i may not make my own butter, ( yeah, about that cow milking bit... )
i do love me a homemade loaf of bread. Really - who doesn't.
And every now and then i try to find some time to flour and knead and rise and bake...
I use this recipe for Quick French Bread from this super old
House & Garden cookbook that i pretend i inherited from someone's great grandmother.
(Laura Ingill's perhaps????)
And it turns out every. single. time.
i like that in a recipe. Hell, i like that in life, period.
And i might even venture to say that Pa might have liked this bread too... ; )
{ Recipe: }
1 Package yeast
2 cups lukewarm water
11/4 tbsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar
5-6 cups flour
Oil, Cornmeal
Stir together yeast and warm water, add salt and sugar. Stir till dissolved.
Beat in flour one cup at a time, adding as much flour as needed to make a smooth dough.
Knead until smooth, brush with oil, cover and place in a warm cozy spot to double in size.
Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and shape into two long loaves.
Place on a balking sheet sprinkled with cornmeal and let stand to rise 5 mins.
Slash the tops, brush with water and place in a cold oven.
Turn the oven on at 400f, and place a pan of boiling water in with the loaves.
Bake 40 - 45 minutes, until crusty and hollow sounding.
Eat it all day long.
I like to add different things, like sea salt or flax seeds on the top, just because : )
Enjoy!
