A Party to Remember, Part2

For whatever reason (perhaps because i was too busy)
i took hardly any photos of all the wonderful people who attended our little bash,
so breathe a sigh of relief my peeps, i will not be plastering your faces all over the internet today,
maybe next time...

Anyways, as promised here's the Little's other birthday party...

As you can see, he had a totally fabulous time!
Thank you so much to everyone who came,
he is a lucky lucky little boy to be loved by so many : )

A Party to Remember

This kid's so cool, he had to have 2 Birthday parties!
Okay okay, so maybe it was our fault,
but it wasn't that long ago we had the kind of birthdays that spanned entire weekends...

Anyways, seeing as there are about twenty eleven thousand photos of the big day(s),
plus an itty-bitty photo shoot to share, I will be kind to you (and your computers);

Here's Part 1 to start you off!

Stay tuned this week for the other party, and possibly maybe a glimpse of our shoot!

Happy Monday!

Dear Jake, On Your Birthday

Just as my due date came and went, an entire year has come and gone.
You are no longer a baby, but a boy.
A little one to be sure, but a boy nonetheless.

It makes me sad to think about how fast this year of you has gone,
how quickly those hazy crazy baby days went.
And while there were parts I could have done with out
(think milk gifts re-gifted, all that quality time at 2am, and
those surprises you had for me that never stayed fully in your diaper...)
there were all of those astounding, heart-bursting, life altering moments that I'll never forget.

I remember watching you struggle to push yourself up, so proud when you succeeded.
Seeing those first wiggles as you tried to crawl,
and those first oh-so tentative steps (not so long ago!)
Listening so hard to hear your first word - of course it was Haaa-naaah.
I love the way your hair looks when it falls over your ears,
or how it catches the wind when we throw you straight up in the air.
Your cheeks, flushed and lined from your sheets in the morning, smiling at me.
And when you walk around in your itsy-bitsy jammies, or fall asleep on my shoulder at night.

Your first smiles blew me away, your giggles do it to me everytime,
and everyday you still take my breath away.

I can't wait to keep growing with you.

xo, mom.

Snow Day!

I am one of those annoying people who actually likes winter.
There, i said it.  I like winter.
The snow, the crispy clean air, the sports, the way the sun reflects off fresh snow.
Dig. it. all.

Talk to me in February and i'll be honest, my tune might have changed.
But when that first snowfall starts, and those perfect little flakes start a-fallin',
i can't help but get that happy little feeling way down inside : )

Seeing as this was the Little's first real snowfall,
(he was too little last year to really appreciate the awesomeness)
I got him geared up and, much to the Hannah Dog's delight, out we went...

The best part?  It finally feels like winter : )

Superhero Indeed...

I wanna be just like dad : )

So many places to go and so much to say these days, so little time!
My little superhero is growing up : )

It was a BIG day...

While i don't feel that this is necessarily the time or the place to share my beliefs,
I definitely think that these pictures from the Little's Baptism on Sunday are necessary.
Very very very necessary....
Hey, it's not everyday you have the chance to photograph a toddler in suit!
(and yes, i said the 't' word. insert sad mother face here)

Looks like he took it all very seriously...

It was a really important day,
and i'm so happy to have shared it with my wonderful East Coast family : )
Thanks for being there for us when my West Coast family can't!

The 'B' Sides v.1

I always try ( and think i am mostly successful ) to post fairly polished looking pictures here on the blog.
It forces me to be creative and really try for that amazing shot, that perfect light,
the coolest processing technique in photoshop.  I like it this way.
There are, however, numerous -(yeah um, think hundreds)- of photos that don't make the cut,
usually because there's crappy flash used, they're kinda weird, or they're simply
just the part of the photo shoot that ended up on the editing room floor...

So i've decided to start a feature to bring these shots to light,
as they're often too good to waste.

Welcome to the B Sides....

where weird is wonderful, natural light isn't always available,
and we often make our child do {ahem} unusual things.

Tasty Tuesday

As the little gets big, my quest for finding food he likes that's actually good for him has begun.
The hardest part of this is making something that we ALL like,
so i'm not making 6 different meals every day.
which happens. sometimes. okay, often.

So when i find something the kid eats, i run with it.
Though his tastes change often on a daily basis, for some reason quinoa (of all things!)
always seems to be a winner.

Lately he has decided that my spoons are no longer desirable,
and that he is far superior at feeding himself.
These quinoa cakes are easy for him to pick up, and are pretty tasty if i do say so meself : )

Hey, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em : )
