Five For Friday

It's been a while since i've done this, i think i might bring it back.
It's like my own little happiness project, and we all need more happiness in our lives!

So without further ado...
Five things I'm diggin' on this week!

1.  Fall.

2.  Hot autumn days spent at the beach.
Say what?  Yup, heat wave, in September. beach swim suntan repeat.

3.  Pinterest.
I am so inspired by all the amazing things i find here,
watch out for some amazing Artsy is NOT fartsy moments in october!

4.  Instagram...
such a fun little app, if only i had an iphone it could go everywhere with me,
instead of just on the ipad in the house!

( Linked with iphone friday and InstaFriday)

5. Dr. Nails

Happy Friday!

The Hannah Dog Gets Another New Knee

Meet the bionic-million dollar dog.

( excuse the dribble of what i can only assume to be dog slobber down the wall behind her.
had i noticed it before i may or may not have photoshopped it out of the picture.
also i wish i could say since noticing it in this photo i have cleaned it. alas, perfect i am not ; )

Right after the Little was born the Hannah Dog had a major operation to re-align her right knee.
she came home with a metal plate and something like 8 screws in her,
and a 50 - 50 chance her other leg might go too.
 of course, it did.

So last week she had another major operation to re-align her left knee,
and came home with another metal plate and a bunch more screws, and a bit less hair.

she's soooo not sopposed to be up there, or up anywhere for that matter,
but it is impossible to stop her.
i'm not sure it it's the drugs or if she just feels good.
The worst part?  The fact that she's had two epidurals, and i never even got to have one : }

Well, our wallets may be empty but the Hannah Dog lives on,
 to one day fetch again....

Ten

ten months

all of a sudden he's not so little anymore
and is looking more like a little boy than a little baby.

he likes to eat.  except anything i make him.
he will eat pieces of steak potatoes bread chicken cheese fruit veggies even meatloaf,
but apparently my attempts at making purees are crap.
i have never seen anyone like water so much, he chugs the stuff.
when he's crawling really really fast he sometimes gets hung up on his hands and faceplants.
this would be funny if he didn't cry.
his little hands make the cutest slapping sound on the floor.
remote controls are still a favorite.  he immediately flips them over and takes the batteries out,
which he then proceeds to put in his mouth.
he's cruising on the furniture, and taking more tumbles than ever as he explores.
i try (and will always) to catch him when he falls, but i sometimes miss.
i think this is harder on me than it is on him.
he is heavy and strong.  my muscles are bigger and my hair shorter.
he looks stellar in a jean jacket, rocks a ball cap, and has a killer smile.
not to mention he's freakin' hilarious.

we live we love we laugh all day.

Pee. Eee. Eye!

part 1,  perhaps.

My western family and my eastern family all got together last weekend and rented a cottage
on the beautiful shore of Prince Edward Island.
It was awesome to hang out, cook big meals together and
just soak in the autumn sunshine....

I may or may not have taken too many pictures (is there really such a thing?),
and there may or may not be a pee.eee.eye. part 2....

Trendy Tuesday v14

A little premature perhaps, but the hockey season's coming!

Hard to say which outfit will get more wear,
I'm thinking the flames ones will because i usually get the Little dressed for the day.
ahhh, the perks of motherhood....

Tasty Tuesday

The best part about having your family visit is all the junk you get to eat.
(Come on, you know you do it too!)
Let's face it, it's the best excuse, and you can always get back to eating right when they leave.
So while my Mom and Dad are out visiting us for a few weeks,
there is a huge NEED for all things baked.

Chocolate Chip Pretzel Cookies

The other great thing about having your family out?
baking with your mom : )

What have i become?!

I have become one of those people.
You know, the ones who laud the new mother in the grocery store with advice,
inundating the poor woman with phrases like "it goes by so fast" or "enjoy them when they're that small"
or even "soon he'll be asking for the car keys".
blarf.  whatever, i totally did it.
 i bet you have too...

I remember all too well hearing all of those things and more and smiling,
pretending that oh yes, i knew all about how quickly time passes and how i'll miss these days.
The reality is that i had no idea how fast the clock would spin,
or how fleeting these moments really are.

So I have tried my best to live in these moments, capture all the milestones,
and record as much as humanly possible of my little persons' life.

and I think (for the most part) i have been successful...

So the next time someone approaches me in the grocery store or at the mall
and bombards me with such wisdom, i will smile and nod,
and pretend that i do indeed know just how
fast this ride really goes.

Falling For Fall...

My favorite time of year.
Fall is my favorite foods, textures, colors.
I love the felling in the air, crisp and clean; the trees a riot of color.
Pumpkins, apples, and vibrant sunflowers.
Farmer's markets bursting.
air. light. sun.

If i point this nail gun at you...

...will you stop taking pictures of me?

Oh this poor man.
Carpenter by day and by night, this guy's got way too much on his plate.
Here's the back of the house where Dr. Nails has been working:

lucky lucky lucky me
to have a man who's so handy

He. is. awesome.
and so is this amazing house he's building for us.
