Let the Good Times Roll.....Part 2

Sometimes good things take time, good things like growing a baby
 and building a home.
I am trying to be patient on both fronts, with varying degrees of success.
Oh - and it's not just a house we're building here, it's definitely going to be a home : )
I keep telling Dr.Nails not to worry, that homes just simply cost more -
as do all of the pretty things that are going to go on the inside.
I think he feels better when I put it that way.
It's important he knows these things, don't you think?

Meanwhile the guys have been hard at work on the things they do know.

With much eyeballing,

deep concentration,

extreme precision,

a delicate hand,

and are rewarded at the end of the day with a view from the top!

Roll on good times, roll on....

Let the Good Times Roll!

I know a carpenter who is a very happy man.  And this is why: the first nail!  If you ask Dr. Nails it is a very big deal, like the real deal, so now I have a happy man.  Happy men are always good.

I'll be back for more later, these guys are moving fast and I'm falling behind!

Vital Stats

Today was a big day.

It was what I am going to call an anniversary of sorts, a minor milestone, a miracle.
Exactly 5 months have passed, meaning there's only 4 more to go.
In four months today we are supposed to meet our little person, although if it's anything like it's mother it most certainly will not be on time.

On one hand it's exciting, exhilarating even.  Thank goodness this whole thing will soon be over, or at least I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  On the other hand, the thought that the end of the tunnel is so near is one of the most terrifying thoughts that has ever occurred to me.  There are only 122 shopping days left!
Is it time to panic yet?

Another minor milestone - Dr. Nails felt the baby for the first time today.
He said it felt like a little 'boop'.  Eloquently put Dr Nails, well done.

The total package indeed.
I just love seeding the lawn, wish it could happen more often...

Levelling Off

After deep thought and discussion, we finally decided against the pool... so once the pumping and removal of excess water was complete what remained was a mucky, muddy mess.  Time to call in the professionals.  This is my personal favorite part of the job - Supervising!  It's actually my whole job description, and what I do best, but it seems that someone has been taking notes and may be
trying to usurp my position!

Minus the beer of course, but it sure looks like he learned that lean somewhere.

That large machine in the background was the one actually working,
and work some magic he did.

Note the little rock walls on either side of what will be the rec-room, and the beautiful view we are so lucky to have - when we can see it through the fog that is!  And just you wait till you see circular drive...
Fancy mucky mucks are we ; )

Side Strokes

Dr. Nails asked me today if I wanted to go swimming with him.  I asked where he wanted to go - obviously forgetting about the growing bump that I have recently procured and the horrors a bikini might bring to one in such a delicate state of mind as I am in at the moment. Oh, and not to mention the fact that it was raining cats and dogs outside with a chance of thunder and lightning.
Sadly, this was his answer:

But on the brighter side of the foundation - we always talked about putting a pool in the basement!
How many millimetres are in 5 feet of water?

Keep you guessing

I present to you the question of the year, this year that I am calling the year of the bump, or maybe i should just call it a bump year, the bump year.  Anyways, that is neither here nor there.
The real question is..... (drumroll please) ..............

OR

Now, my lovely and handsome boyfriend - to be henceforth know at his request as "Dr. Nails" -  and I have made the decision to break many hearts and not find out the answer to said question.
Instead we choose the surprise of a lifetime, and hope that it is just the beginning of the many amazing surprises to come.  I love surprises. Dr. Nails surprises me everyday, and so does my belly button.
November seems so far away!

My belly button has lost it's mind...

...or wait, maybe it's my mind that has lost the button? Should it look like this?

Those guys think they're doing all the tough stuff, but this is the REAL hard part. Growing an outie takes a lot of effort, and a lot of ice cream :)

A Foundation for the Future

First comes love, then comes... oh never mind! Nobody does things that way anymore do they? However, when it comes to matters as important as building a home for your family, there is a definite order things need to go in. It's not like life where you can messy things up and do them any which way you please.

First comes the footings,

Then comes the foundation...

And then... I have no idea what comes next, but for our dear carpenters i do hope it involves wood!

Breaking New Ground

And so it begins! After months of deliberations, debate and disagreements, we (think) we have a master plan and go for gold. This baby isn't going to wait around forever, and since I have insisted that it is not appropriate to have a baby sleep in a dresser drawer, things finally got underway.

We broke ground on Friday July 2nd...

There was much dirt...

much measuring....

and much noise...

And it was a very good day. Perhaps now we can finally start shopping... ; )

A New Start

They say a time comes in every woman's life when she can't ignore the ticking any longer. They also say that once she does something about that clock to turn it off, a man begins to hear his own clock tick.
While hers chimes "babies, babies, babies...", his rings "build, build, build..."
And so we begin our adventure of building babies and making room.
